We seemingly see great comebacks and incredible stories throughout the calendar year in the NHL, but this latest one is perhaps the most surprising and intriguing of all.
A professional return

After five years away from the game, it has now been officially confirmed that Peter Holland, who last played in 2017-18 with New York will now be getting a professional tryout in Colorado.

The Avalanche are a top-heavy team filled with talent, and just 18 months removed from their third Stanley Cup in franchise history, it appears they're willing to try anything to fill out this roster.
A former top-pick
Hollad was a first-round pick of the Anaheim Ducks way back in 2009 at No. 15 overall, and after 266 games and just 85 points at the NHL level, he retired following a four point season with the Rangers.
Now, at 32-yeasr old, the Ontario native is preparing to make a comeback, and while it's highly unlikely he can crack a top-nine spot for the Avalanche this year, his veteran presence could be helpful down the lineup, so don't discount him yet.
Can Holland make an NHL roster in 2023-24?
