Only one year removed from a Hart trophy win, Auston Matthews has extended in Toronto.

Matthews took to Twitter to announce his extension:

I feel fortunate to continue this journey as a Maple Leaf in front of the best fans in hockey! I will do everything I can to help get us to the top of the mountain. GLG! #LeafsForever

UPDATE:

Matthews has signed a four-year $53-million deal with the Leafs. He will become the highest-paid NHLer of all time.
