While it may have been just a simple mistake, Jake DeBrusk is not taking it lightly.

High Standard

DeBrusk has released a statement after being made a healthy scratch for the Boston Bruins game against the LA Kings on Saturday. It was punishment for being late to a team meeting. DeBrusk has taken full responsibility.

"We have a high standard on this team. I broke a team rule. I understand that there's consequences with that and I own up to it completely. I let the guys down. I wanted to join them in LA yesterday and having to watch really sucked.

DeBrusk added he wanted nothing more than to get on the ice and help his team.

"I felt it. I just wanted to do anything I could to help the team out today in any way...I'm proud to be a Bruin. I don't have a rebuttal on it and that's all I'll say on it. We're moving forward as a group."

Hard Feelings?

The question now is whether the relationship between the Bruins and DeBrusk can remain positive. DeBrusk publicly requested a trade from Boston in 2021 amid sagging stats. However, after turning it around, he signed an extension with the team in 2022 that runs out at the end of this season.
