It's hard to blame him for being upset, although it's likely he has to shoulder a lot of the blame.

Jay Woodcroft Ejected from Game Between Edmonton and Vancouver

Edmonton Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft had to watch his team play another low-effort game last night against the Vancouver Canucks that saw Edmonton's record on the season drop to 2-8-1. With just under seven minutes left in the third, Woodcroft got himself ejected after saying something to the referee.

Coach Woodcroft Insists he Did Nothing To get Himself Ejected from Oilers Game

As for what he said to the official that led to him immediately getting tossed, Woodcroft insisted he just asked a question regarding a play involving Dylan Holloway.

"I asked about the play on [Dylan] Holloway, and you know, it wasn't profanity laced or anything. it was a question. It wasn't well received when I asked the question, and in the end I got to be better. I can't take a penalty to put our team down. I didn't think it crossed the line at all, but it's sometimes the way you send a message, or ask a question, the way it's received might be not in the manner you intend it to.

I think frustration would be a profanity-laced tirade. that's not what that was. It was a question. It was a fair question. It ended up costing us. i can be better."

Woodcroft and his players need to figure this out quickly. Some may be thinking it's still early, but Edmonton is now putting immense pressure on itself to play well the rest of the season to have a shot at making the playoffs.
