10-Year NHL Veteran Abandons the League and Signs New Deal in the KHL
With all of the new, young talent coming into the NHL from all over the world, there's less and less space for veterans to fill rosters, and now, a 10-year NHLer has officially headed overseas.
Veteran Brett Ritchie signs with the KHL
After a 10-year run with Calgary, Dallas, Boston and Arizona, forward Brett Ritchie has officially signed with the KHL, netting a deal with Dyanmo Minsk in Belarus.
Ritchie, who is still just 30-years of age played for Calgary and Arizona a season ago, but couldn't quite impact the game enough to remain in the NHL, but with time left in his career, it appears he could look to reignite his game before a return to North America.
A respected veteran who's been solid everywhere he's gone
While Ritchie, a former second-round pick has never become the start that some expected him to be, he's always contributed to teams beyond the scoresheet, as he's managed just 85 points in 391 games played.
Ultimately, he wasn't very effective a season ago, so now, he will look to find some spark in his offensive game, and if he can do that, there will no doubt be a spot for him in the NHL again one day.
