As the old saying goes, f--k around, and find out. Tommy Novak of the Nashville Predators found out last night.

Tommy Novak Gets His Comeuppance After Dirty Move

With the Predators taking on the Washington Capitals, and leading 3-1 with no time left, Novak decided he wanted to stuff the puck in the Caps' net to stir things up a bit. It had the expected effect, as Washington's Nick Jensen didn't like it at all. He retaliated by tripping Novak, causing him to go to the ice hard.

"At the end of Preds vs Caps, Nick Jensen slewfooted/tripped Tommy Novak just as time expired. Retaliation for Novak sending the puck into the Washington net.

Seems like Novak is fine, but retaliating like this with zeroes on the clock should never be ok in this league."

You can see in the picture below where Novak had already finished the wrap-around attempt. The puck had bounced off the end boards, and he was waiting for the rebound to shoot it again, which he did. However, the buzzer had already gone at that point.

Preds Star Pokes the Bear by Breaking Unwritten Rule

First off, it's not a slew-foot. However, it is a dangerous trip. At the same time, it's hard to feel much sympathy for Novak as he brought it on himself and was well aware it wouldn't be ignored. You don't do this stuff after the buzzer unless you're intentionally trying to rile up your opponents.
