BREAKING: Blue Jackets Place Goalie on Waivers

The Columbus Blue Jackets have struggled mightily again in 2023-24, and after the drama surrounding Elvis Merzlikins, they've made another intriguing move in net.

Despite the recent drama, the Blue Jackets today announced that they have placed 28-year old Spencer Martin on waivers.

The former third-round pick has played in 13 games for Columbus this season, putting together a respectable 3.65 GAA and an .887 save percentage.

After spending two years with the Vancouver Canucks, this appeared to be an opportunity for Martin to win some more playing time, but unfortunately, things haven't panned out that way.

Despite being picked way back in the 2013 NHL Draft, Martin has played in just 51 games of NHL action, and while he's looked solid, the goaltender market in the NHL is red-hot right now, and there just may not be anywhere that he can find significant playing time.
