Brad Marchand Officially Dethroned as the NHL's Most Hated Player
For most of his NHL career, Brad Marchand has been one of the most polarizing player in the league by consistently competing fiercly and speaking his mind. While fans love that from him, the same thing can't be said of the other players on the ice, especially those on the other team.
Despite all that, Marchand was finally dethroned as the most hated player in the league.
Another NHL Player Surpasses Marchand in Unpopularity
NHL players participated in a survey with The Athletic to get an idea of their opinions about multiple topics.
In the category of "Who's the player in the league whose face you most want to punch?" Marchand did not come out on top. He received only 14.7% of the votes, dethroned by an unexpected rival.
With a staggering 28.57% of the votes, NHL players singled out Nick Cousins of the Florida Panthers as the player they would most like to confront on the ice.
Given Cousins' history of controversial plays and the lack of consequences laid upon him by the NHL, it'S not really surprising to see him at the top of that category.
Matthew Tkachuk, Michael Bunting, and Conor Garland complete the top five.
