Today Pittsburgh Penguins GM Kyle Dubas has poached yet another player from his former team the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Pittsburgh Penguins GM Kyle Dubas is known for liking to acquire players he is familiar with from his previous jobs. This came up a lot in his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs as Kyle Dubas would always bring in former Sault Saint Marie Greyhounds of the OHL where he was the GM. Now the trend continues in the NHL as well.
Yesterday it was announced that the Pittsburgh Penguins had signed defenseman Filip Kral. The 24-year-old was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs and Kyle Dubas in 2018. After being drafted the Czech defenseman spent parts of three seasons with the Maple Leafs making his NHL debut during the 2022-23 season.

Now the six-foot-two left-handed defenseman will take his talents to Pittsburgh after signing a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Penguins have signed defenseman Filip Kral to a one-year contract.
The contract runs through the 2024.25 season and carries an average annual value of $775,000 at the NHL level.

Filip Kral will more than likely begin his time with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the AHL. If he succeeds there he could be called up and add a much-needed infusion of youth to the Pittsburgh Penguins defensive group.
