Sarah-Florence Benjamin is a journalist from the French newspaper the "Journal de Montreal", and she revealed to everyone how much money athletes are paid when they win a medal at the Olympics, which are currently being held in Paris, France.
Not every athlete will receive the exact same reward for winning a medal, as some countries are more willing to commit greater amounts of dollars towards their athletes. Canadian athletes are not rewarded as well as athletes from other countries, which is very unfortunate, as the Government of Canada should be doing better to help grow athleticism in the country.

One interesting country is Morocco, who rewards athletes all the way down to the 25th position. Those coming in 25th will be given $6,979 CAD, and those in 8th place receive a generous amount of $30,000 CAD.
In Italy, a gold medal winner receives $270,000 CAD.
Many athletes receive well over $100,000 in bonuses from their countries if they win medals, however the maximum amount a Canadian athlete gets is only $20,000. Canadian athletes deserve better treatment.
