The Vancouver Canucks took down the Los Angeles Kings in a tight affair on Thursday, but it was the acts of forward Tanner Jeannot that was the biggest talking point after the game. Early on, the veteran forward went after Vancouver's Brock Boeser, hitting him directly in the head and was assessed a match penalty for his actions, actions that resulted in Boeser leaving the game.
Fans in the comments called for a suspension, especially Canucks fans who are rightfully upset that one of their best players left the game with an injury, and on Friday the NHL's Department of Player Safety agreed, with Elliotte Friedman first reporting that it would be three games for the veteran forward.
The NHL's DoPS had a very easy decision to make on this one, as proven with this video explanation, and given that he directly targeted Boeser's head with ridiculous and unnecessary force, this was the only choice to make. While some reactions in the comments sided with Jeannot, he had ample time to make a play on the body of Boeser rather than the head, but after directly hitting him in the head, he's lucky to just get a three game stint on the sidelines.
As for Boeser, there's been no update on his condition after the game, as he left with concussion symptoms, and if it's no more than that he could be back on the ice soon, but for now, Jeannot deservedly gets suspended after a hit that could have done serious damage to his opponent.
