The NHL changed jersey manufacturers over the off-season, but it appears someone with the Detroit Red Wings didn't quite get the message, as one of their veteran players was seen wearing an Adidas jersey in their latest matchup.

Despite many pleas from fans, the NHL went through with a 10-year partnership with jersey manufacturer Fanatics this past summer, and it's safe to say that those critics haven't slowed down in the slightest.

Unfortunately for the NHL, some teams may also be against the new deal, as evidenced by this huge mistake recently from the Detroit Red Wings and veteran Jeff Petry was picked up by a fan on social media:

During their latest game, the cameras caught a shot of Jeff Petry's jersey, and unfortunately for Detroit, it was an Adidas one rather than Fanatics, which could land them in hot water with Commissioner Gary Bettman.

It's unclear exactly why the team would even still have Adidas jersey's remaining in stock, given how big of a push the league made to bring in Fanatics over the off-season, and even though the quality of their products has been called into question, we've seen no real issue on the ice thus far.

This move from Detroit is likely to cause major backlash with the league and with Fanatics, and while the NHL doesn't have a precedent to go on for a potential punishment, it's safe to say that Fanatics won't be happy about this in the slightest.

We've seen Gary Bettman and the NHL fine teams and players for much less in the past, so expect an announcement for this one in the coming days as the league will likely look to come down hard on this one, even though other NHL teams are highly unlikely to make the same mistake.
