Minnesota Wild Veteran Mats Zuccarello Undergoes Emergency Surgery Following Lower-Body Injury
The Minnesota Wild veteran Mats Zuccarello had to undergo emergency surgery following a lower-body injury after last night's game against the Montreal Canadiens.
Yesterday, the Montreal Canadiens were in Minnesota to face the Wild. While Kirill Kaprizov's team beat the Habs 3-1, Wild fans had to watch two key players leave the game: Mats Zuccarello and Joel Eriksson Ek.
It's never easy watching players get injured, it's even harder when it's important players such as Zuccarello and Eriksson Ek.

In a new development, the Wild head coach John Hynes revealed that Eriksson Ek is considered day-to-day, and hasn't been ruled out of Saturday night's game against the Dallas Stars.
He also revealed that Zuccarello had to undergo surgery, and is expected to miss three to four weeks of action.
Per The Athletic's Michael Russo:
Zuccarello, at 37 years old, continues to impress by his constant performances. This season, his 14th in the NHL, the veteran scored 14 points, including six goals, in 16 games.
Fans are hoping to see Kaprizov continue to perform well while his linemate recovers from his injury.
Currently at the 2nd rank in the NHL for points, only three behind Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon, Kaprizov is playing like someone who wants to sign a big contract next summer.
Indeed, the Russian forward is set to hit free agency in July. Currently playing the last season of his five-year, nine-million AAV contract, Kaprivoz could ask for a significant raise if he keeps producing at that level.
However, he will need to perform in the playoffs to get the highest possible deal.
