The Buffalo Sabres have once again become the butt of the joke in the NHL, and now former Sabre Marcus Foligno has fired a shot at them after their losing skid.

Despite showing positive signs early in the season, the Buffalo Sabres have now dropped 12 straight games, and it's safe to say that they're on the verge of adding to their NHL record Stanley Cup Playoffs drought.

While they've become the butt of the joke in the league again, many people feel sympathy for the players that are trying their best, with owner Terry Pegula taking plenty of criticism for the way things have been handled.

Now, former Sabres forward Marcus Foligno has fired a shot at Buffalo when asked about Minnesota's little form slump, as they have dropped four of their past five games despite a red-hot start to the season.

I'd rather be in this position than Buffalo.

It's unclear why Foligno wanted to take the shot at the Sabres now, as he left the team following the 2016/17 campaign, with the added layer that Foligno is from Buffalo and should want the team to do well.

While some in the comments on social media enjoyed the joke, others took sympathy on the team, criticizing Foligno for going after the low-hanging fruit, as many pointed out that Minnesota haven't exactly been a pillar of success over the past few decades.

With 12 straight losses, the Sabres now have a record of 11-18-4, and with the team back to the all too familiar last place in the Eastern Conference, their playoff hopes in 2024/25 are all but extinguished.

Ultimately though, until Buffalo do something about their reputation, this will continue to happen, and if the team finally want to be taken seriously as a threat, they'll need owner Terry Pegula to make some big moves as their endless rebuild seemingly continues.
