With Vancouver trade rumors heating up, Don Cherry roasted forward Elias Pettersson during his recent edition of the Grapevine Podcast.

Despite both players' level on the ice, JT Miller and Elias Pettersson seem to have been the headache the Canucks just cannot shake.

With no end of the longstanding locker room feud in sight, trade rumors have reignited, with much of the focus shifting from Miller to the younger forward for a better deal.

While Pettersson is expected to be drawing in the better offers than his on-team rival, not all fans and analysts have been impressed with his game.

During his recent edition of the Grapevine Podcast, controversial hockey commentator Don Cherry roasted Pettersson, implying he is unworthy of his current contract.

"Nobody would want him. He's the third highest [paid...] and he had one good year."

Pettersson is among the highest paid players in the league, but his current production does not seem to match his rate.

His best performance saw him record 39 goals and 102 points over 80 games during the 2022-23 season, yet Pettersson only cracked 70 points in one other season.

Additionally, with only 30 points in 42 games, the 26-year-old forward stands at 122nd in points, and 160th in goals.

Both Cherry and his son agreed that they believed the best thing a coach or GM could do in this situation is to send both he and Miller home.

"Just send them home. That's the only way you can, send them home."

Elias Petterson has seven more years on his eight-figure contract, hitting free agency at 33 years old.

Unless he could pick up his game and his attitude, it may be hard for him or Vancouver to dig themselves out of the hole they are in.
