The Los Angeles Kings are one of several teams calling the Buffalo Sabres about Alex Tuch ahead of the trade deadline according to the latest report.

The Buffalo Sabres have had another rough season. Through 54 games, the team has just 49 points putting them last in the Atlantic and 29th overall in the NHL.

Things have been so bad for the Sabres that the team even held a closed-doors meeting earlier in the season.

Despite that move, the Sabres remain at the bottom of the standings, and thus will most likely be sellers at the trade deadline.

One player that has been in rumors is 28-year-old winger Alex Tuch, who is one of the team's most valuable trade chips.

Tuch has 19 goals and 43 points in 53 games played this season, making him second on the team in scoring behind Tage Thompson.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has already reported that the Tampa Bay Lightning are interested in Tuch's services, but he has noted that other teams are in the mix as well.

Today, NHL reporter Russell Morgan revealed one of those teams. Apparently, the LA Kings, who currently sit 3rd in the Pacific, are targeting Tuch at the trade deadline.

What makes Tuch so valuable right now is the fact that he is in his prime, and is cost-controlled for one more season.

He comes with a cap hit under 5 million dollars for the remainder of the year and next season as well, making him one of the best value contracts in the entire NHL.

As such, it should come as no surprise that teams like the Kings and Lightning are calling on him. We will just have to wait and see what Kevin Adams does in the coming weeks.
