Dylan Larkin has Todd McLellan staring at a wider market that still is not moving Detroit any closer to a deal.

The new wrinkle is simple. The Fourth Period says the Sharks, Kraken, and Devils have all shown interest in Larkin, joining the teams already linked to him earlier in the summer.

That sounds big until you get to the catch. Larkin has not been willing to significantly expand his list of approved destinations, which keeps the Red Wings boxed in even with more clubs calling.

And that is the real pressure point for Steve Yzerman. More interest helps in theory, but not if the player's no-trade control keeps the practical market narrow. That is an inference from the report on his limited list.

Larkin still has the kind of profile that gets phones ringing. He finished 2025-26 with 34 goals and 67 points in 74 games, which is top-line center production no matter how messy Detroit's season got.

That is why San Jose, Seattle, and New Jersey make sense as names. All 3 can use help down the middle, and all 3 have reasons to at least explore a player who can change a lineup right away. That is an inference from their interest and Larkin's production.

Detroit's side is harder. The Red Wings went 41-31-10 and missed again, which already left the franchise in a bad spot before the captain's file turned into the summer's biggest problem.

" Fourth Period: Several other teams have expressed interest in Dylan Larkin, including the Sharks, Kraken and Devils, but Larkin has not yet been willing to significantly expand his list of teams (7/11) "

The list of interested teams is also starting to take shape. League chatter has linked the Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey Devils, Florida Panthers, New York Rangers, and Colorado Avalanche to the situation, giving Detroit no shortage of potential trade partners.

That does not mean a deal is close. It simply shows there is legitimate interest from multiple organizations that believe Larkin could immediately strengthen their lineup.

Each team brings a different fit, whether it's adding a top-six center, chasing a Stanley Cup, or filling a major leadership void. The level of interest only reinforces how valuable Larkin remains around the league.

Now the question is whether any of those clubs can put together the package-and secure Larkin's approval, to finally get a blockbuster across the finish line.

Massive Dylan Larkin blockbuster reportedly gaining serious momentum

San Jose is an interesting fit because the Sharks can absorb money and still need established talent. But a rebuilding team is not likely to be on Larkin's short list unless his thinking changes in a major way. That is an inference from the report and his limited approvals.

Seattle also makes hockey sense. Shane Wright uncertainty and the search for more punch at center make the Kraken an understandable caller, even if they may not be a preferred landing spot. That is an inference based on roster logic.

New Jersey may be the most dangerous of the 3 from Detroit's perspective. The Devils already were active in the center market this summer, and a team built around Jack Hughes could still see value in adding another big-name pivot. That is an inference from New Jersey's interest and offseason behavior.

Still, none of that changes the contract reality. Larkin's no-trade protection remains the thing steering this story more than outside demand. That is why the market can grow without the deal getting any closer.

So this update cuts both ways. Detroit can tell itself more teams are in, but until Dylan Larkin opens the door wider, the Red Wings are still negotiating from a cramped corner.

That is why this saga keeps dragging. The market around Dylan Larkin is getting bigger, but the path out of Detroit still looks just as tight.
