Shane Wright has entered Dan Muse's Pittsburgh picture as Kyle Dubas looks for young talent with room to grow.
Josh Yohe reports that he has heard Dubas likes the Seattle Kraken centre, creating an intriguing link between Wright and the Penguins.
There is no confirmed report that Pittsburgh and Seattle are discussing a trade. Interest from one executive doesn't mean an offer has been made or that Wright is available.
The connection carries more weight after Ron Francis returned to the Penguins organization. Few executives know Wright's background and development better than Seattle's former general manager.
Francis was running the Kraken when they selected Wright. His presence gives Pittsburgh direct knowledge of the player beyond standard scouting reports and video review.
That familiarity could help Dubas decide whether Wright fits Pittsburgh's long-term plan. It could also prevent the Penguins from chasing a player based only on draft pedigree.

Seattle would need a strong reason to move him. Young centres with NHL experience and team control rarely change clubs without a meaningful return.
That makes the asking price the central issue. Pittsburgh can't afford to move premium assets simply because Dubas likes the player and Francis knows him well.
The Kraken must also decide how Wright fits under Lane Lambert. A coaching change can create a fresh opportunity before management considers a major trade.
Yohe's report establishes interest, not negotiations. It gives Wright's name relevance around Pittsburgh without proving that either front office is preparing a deal.
Still, the link makes sense. Dubas is searching for younger building blocks, and Wright offers the type of age, position and upside that Pittsburgh must examine.
The next real development would be confirmed contact between the clubs. Until then, Wright remains a logical Penguins target rather than an incoming roster addition.
