Connor McDavid has stayed almost invisible this offseason, but Lauren Kyle just offered a rare glimpse into how Mike Babcock's captain is spending it.
McDavid hasn't been filling social media with workout videos, vacation shots or training updates as Edmonton moves closer to another training camp. His offseason has played out almost entirely away from public view.
Kyle changed that with a small Instagram update that showed a much quieter side of the Oilers captain. Instead of hockey dominating the picture, the couple had settled into a Harry Potter marathon at home.
“Connor and I are having a Harry Potter marathon…” Kyle wrote, pulling back the curtain on what McDavid has been doing during his social media silence.
There was also a rule attached to the marathon: each movie came with its own themed snack. McDavid handled one of the drinks while Kyle took care of dessert.
“He made pumpkin juice,” Kyle revealed, another detail fans probably weren't expecting from Edmonton's captain during one of the quietest stretches of his summer.

The timing stands out because McDavid hasn't offered many personal updates himself. Kyle's post became one of the few windows into his offseason before the Oilers report for camp.
That doesn't mean hockey has disappeared from his radar. Edmonton is preparing for a new chapter under Mike Babcock, who was hired as head coach on June 23.
But away from the rink, McDavid appears comfortable keeping things low-key. Kyle's glimpse showed evenings at home rather than a carefully produced offseason feed built around training clips and public appearances.
It's also consistent with how private McDavid tends to be when the season ends. Kyle has often been the one giving fans the occasional look at the couple's life outside the locker room.
She has shared some of his quirks before, including his famous dislike of ketchup, while also discussing the superstitions she follows when watching Oilers games.
This update was simpler, but that may be why it landed. McDavid hasn't been broadcasting his summer, and Kyle quietly revealed that at least part of it has involved movie nights, homemade snacks and time away from the spotlight.
Training camp will bring the attention straight back to McDavid. Until then, Kyle just gave Oilers fans the offseason update he wasn't posting himself.
