Dylan Larkin's camp wants the Red Wings to negotiate off the offers on the table, and Darren Dreger says rival teams are getting frustrated.

Dreger said this week that Larkin and his representatives believe Shawn Horcoff should be working from what has already been proposed. According to Dreger, teams are growing impatient because the Detroit GM isn't willing to do that just yet.

This has been building for days. We've tracked Pierre LeBrun's report on Larkin's list of teams, with Detroit pressing the player and his agents to widen the options, and the answer from the other side hasn't moved.

Other reports suggest offers have reached Detroit and parameters have been discussed. But hard negotiations remain very limited, which fits the picture of a lot of talk and very little real bargaining.

Larkin, 30, was drafted 15th overall by the Red Wings in 2014. He has 6 points in 10 games this season, and 649 points over 818 career games.

Detroit is playing tonight in Colorado, and the game was at the second intermission as this was written. The Red Wings are 7-7-3 and have lost two straight, including a 2-1 loss to Vegas on Thursday.

Why the Larkin standoff matters beyond Detroit

A stalemate like this freezes more than one team. Every club waiting on Larkin is also waiting to find out what its own plan B looks like, and that ripples through the trade market.

Our Dylan Larkin trade update on a third team showed the Red Wings are in no hurry. That's their right. But a team sitting at 17 points through 17 games isn't exactly negotiating from a place of comfort.

Here's the part that's hard to defend: if offers exist and parameters have been discussed, sitting on them while teams lose interest only shrinks the pool. Horcoff controls the timeline, but not the patience of the other GMs.

Detroit visits St. Louis on Tuesday, and the next move on Larkin could come before then, or not at all.

Quick hits

EDMONTON OILERS: Connor McDavid's assist streak has reached 18 games, and it now sits level with Adam Oates, according to SportsnetStats citing NHL PR. The Oilers face the Canucks tonight, so there's a chance to pass him.

CAROLINA HURRICANES: The Hurricanes routed the Blackhawks 9-2 at Lenovo Center and tied their record for goals in a game since relocating. That's a statement night for a team that never lacks for offense.

OTTAWA SENATORS: Tim Stutzle moved into the top five for assists in Senators history, the team announced tonight. Quiet milestone, loud résumé.

NEW YORK ISLANDERS: Luke Hughes took down Matthew Schaefer, and the Devils won 5-4 in overtime at UBS Arena. Schaefer was clearly fuming, and Islanders fans will want a look at that one.

COLORADO AVALANCHE: A massive fight broke out at Ball Arena as the Avalanche host the Red Wings, and Nazem Kadri went off for roughing, per Hockey Mountain High. Nazem Kadri and Moritz Seider were both tossed.
