Lundell To Potentially Hear From Player Safety After Crosscheck on Poitras
During the Boston Bruins game against the Florida Panthers, Panthers forward Anton Lundell landed a dirty crosscheck on the Bruins' Matthew Poitras. The crosscheck appeared to make contact with Poitras' head, which is normally grounds for suspension.
This type of crosscheck has been suspendable by the NHL before, and could land Lundell a suspension or a fine.
Lundell Having Good Start to Season Which Could Be Halted By Suspension
The Panthers would be in a bad position if they lost Lundell, as he has been centring their top line in Barkov's absence. While the 22-year-old only has 9 points in 19 games, he has seen increasing responsibility and has been handling it well.
Lundell, who was not ejected from the game after the crosscheck on Poitras, had the game-tying goal later against the Bruins.
We will see if NHL Player Safety will get involved, although time is running out on their likelihood of doing so.
