Nick Foligno Fires Shots at Connor Bedard and Other Blackhawks Rookies After Tough Game

The Chicago Blackhawks have struggled to a 6-13-0 record and sit dead last in the Central Division.

Following a tough, 4-2, loss at home versus the Blues on Sunday, assistant captain Nick Foligno put the youth of the team on notice.

Veteran Foligno Calls Out Bedard and the Youth

Foligno, a 17-year veteran of the NHL, now in his first season with the Blackhawks, spoke to the media following the loss to St. Louis, aiming his comments towards his young teammates.

"Twenty games in you kind of understand the league a little bit or you should...there's got to be a little bit more of a commitment to that."

The Chicago roster currently boasts three teenage players, including top overall draft pick Connor Bedard, who is the youngest player in the league at just 18-years-old, as well as eight players aged 21-or-under.

In elaborating on his comments, Foligno pointed to a lack of motivation within the young group and how that attitude needs to be adjusted.

"Your hair should be on fire this whole year...you could be a big part of building this and being a part of the future of this."

The team's loss on Sunday was the sixth in their last seven games as Bedard went without a point and was a -1 on the night.

In his rookie campaign, the number one overall pick of this past NHL Entry Draft has scored 10 goals and added seven assists over 18 games.
