Recently, it has appeared as though the New York Islanders front office has been all over the place, but now, Head Coach Patrick Roy has disputed that.

On the ice, the New York Islanders have been solid to start the 2024/25 season, posting a 3-3-2 record through eight games, but away from the ice, things have been questionable. Recently, the front office broke an NHL rule by not offering Head Coach Patrick Roy to a pre-game media session, and this was followed quickly by reports of an argument between Roy and General Manager Lou Lamoriello.

It's unclear yet what exactly the details of these disagreements have been, but publicly Roy has maintained a positive image, and has now addressed the speculation of the organization not being on the same page:

It's funny when people make it sound like Lou and I are not on the same page. It's totally false. We are talking every day about the lineup. Lou has the final say upstairs, and I have the final say behind the bench, and at the end of the day, we both care to win hockey games. And right now, I mean, I won't lie. I mean the spots, number 11 and 12, we don't feel comfortable yet with the guys, and we are going to try until we find guys that we are comfortable with.

Things may not be perfect, but according to Roy, the communication continues as the Islanders look to put together a team they believe can compete for the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season. Simply put, neither of these men are afraid to say what they think and believe strongly in what the Islanders should look like on the ice, so while things definitely aren't clicking right now, if they continue to work at it, there's no reason why this team can't be in the mix come early 2025.
