The Ottawa Senators are off to a solid start in 2024/25, posting a 4-4-0 record through their first eight games, and after a 1-2-0 road trip on the West Coast, they are back at home on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, they've now run into an issue, as their start time has been delayed for their battle with the St. Louis Blues due to a power issue at the Canadian Tire Centre.
The team announced that the delay may only be short however, as they are working to get going by 7:15 ET, and if that is the case, it will only be a short delay of 15 minutes, assuming that things go according to plan and they can get things under control in an orderly manner.
It's unclear exactly what happened with the issue, but according to Senators reporter Claire Hanna, the issue also extends to the dressing room, with the brand new arena that's set for the future in Ottawa not being able to come quick enough for the Senators and the city. Fortunately, the Senators social media team saw the fun side of the delay, as they clapped back at the St. Louis Blues account after they posted the announcement of the delayed start.
Ultimately, this isn't the first time that issues have arisen at the Canadian Tire Centre, despite it only being build 28 years ago in 1996, and now, the team have revealed that their game will start at 7:30 PM, giving fans a delay of 30 minutes after all.
Thankfully, the game will go ahead after all, and for the NHL's sake, we hope that the Senators can get the issue under control with a very busy season ahead that fans hope will end in a Stanley Cup Playoffs appearance.
