The Toronto Maple organization finally confirmed Max Pacioretty's disappointing injury fate.

On Saturday night, the Maple Leafs beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 in Toronto without their captain Auston Matthews, who was placed on the IR last week with an upper-body injury.

Unfortunately, fans had to watch the team lose another forward to an injury in the first period: Max Pacioretty.

During a shift in the offensive zone, Pacioretty was cross-checked in the back by the Canadiens defenseman Mike Matheson. The forward collapsed on the ice, with what looked like hamstring discomfort.

He was helped off the ice by his teammates and never returned.

Check out how it all went down in the following video:

On Monday morning, the Maple Leafs finally confirmed Pacioretty's status in a post on X.

It was announced by the organization that Pacioretty is listed week-to-week on the Injury Reserve with a lower-body injury.

In the same post, the team also revealed that both Max Domi and William Nylander won't practice today:

Considering Pacioretty's injury history, Leafs fans hope to see the 35-year-old veteran's recovery go smoothly, and that he'll be able to come back to the lineup fully healed this season.

This season, Pacioretty scored six points, including two goals, in 13 games with the Maple Leafs. He brought a lot of experience and talent to the locker room, as well as offensive depth to the lineup.

The Leafs were able to maintain a good rhythm despite Auston Matthews' injury, and all indicate they will do the same during Pacioretty's recovery.
