Jacob Trouba commented on the trades he blocked to keep his family together in a recent interview.

Yesterday, after months of rumors, the New York Rangers finally decided to trade their captain Jacob Trouba.

Trouba, 30, is now a member of the Anaheim Ducks, after six seasons with the Rangers.

In return, New York got the defenseman Urho Vaakanainen and a draft pick.

Check out the full details here:

Trouba met with the media on Friday after the trade to discuss the whole process.

He notably talked about the reason why he blocked trades out of New York in the past year.

He revealed that he wanted to stay in New York to avoid being separated from his family, as his wife, Dr. Kelly Tyson-Trouba, currently has a residency at a New York hospital:

"I had the choice to stay with my wife and son as long as I could or move somewhere while they stayed in New York, I was gonna take the chance to stay with my family. That's the most important thing to me and I have no regrets at all about that decision."

"Family is staying here for now and she's gonna finish up her job and what she's committed to and we'll figure out a way to grind through this."

He also mentioned how he believes it's unfortunate he had to make this choice and that it all went public:

"It's unfortunate it all went public but I had a choice to make between my career and my family and I chose my family. I'll make that same decision a thousand times over."

It's obviously a bittersweet moment for the former Rangers captain. While he's excited about the challenge ahead in Anaheim, moving far from his family will be tough, and we wish him the best going forward.
