Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand was up to his usual antics tonight, potentially earning himself a suspension for a new move he used.

Brad Marchand is no stranger to headline news. He is frequently in the spotlight whether he likes it or not.

Typically, this is because of his on-ice behavior where he regularly crosses the line.

This season though he has mostly been in headlines due to a rumored rift between himself and David Pastrnak.

That's not why he's making headlines tonight though. Rather, he is back to his usual self on the ice.

During tonight's game against the Ottawa Senators, he took his right glove off and proceeded to put his hand around the neck of Nick Cousins during a stoppage in play.

Understandably, fans were outraged by this move as it was very threatening and potentially even dangerous.

Making matters worse is the fact that the referees did not even call a penalty on the play, despite the fact that one of the linesmen was standing between them.

While Linesmen are generally not permitted to call penalties, they can alert the referees as to blatant infractions such as this.

It does not appear as though that happened in this case. Some fans have expressed deep concern over this behavior.

One went so far as to say that Marchand should be suspended for the rest of the season as what he did could be classified as a crime if it happened off the ice.

Marchand is certainly no stranger to suspensions, but the NHL Department of Player Safety is so inconsistent it is very hard to say whether or not he will actually face any supplementary discipline for this.

Keep a lookout for an announcement from the DoPS tomorrow as we await word on Marchand's fate.
