Brandon Saad had his contract terminated by the St. Louis Blues this week, and now, he's signing with the Stanley Cup contending Vegas Golden Knights.

This past week has been a whirlwind for Brandon Saad, who was originally waived by the St. Louis Blues before the two parties came together to agree on a contract termination.

That allowed the 32-year old to become a free agent immediately, with many teams lined up to add the veteran forward, and unsurprisingly, he's landed with a Stanley Cup contender.

According to Insider Kevin Weekes, Saad has now agreed to a deal with the Vegas Golden Knights, as they add yet another talented depth piece to their forward group that appears ready to make a push for their second Stanley Cup in 2024/25.

With Raphael Lavoie set to take his place on the third line after injuries to this team, that's a clear opportunity for Saad to come in and take a middle-six spot away from a young, unproven player, as just last year he was able to score 26 goals with a Blues team that was much less talented than this one.

It's unclear exactly what the interest levels were for Saad around the league, but this allows him both an opportunity to chase a Stanley Cup and to have consistent playing time, and after passing up over $5 million over the next 18 months, that fulfills both of his desires.

Ultimately, this isn't a move that was ever going to shake the foundations of the NHL like the Mikko Rantanen trade did, but it's a good one for Vegas that will give them more depth and Stanley Cup experience as they look for another run this season.
