Navrin Mutter landed on waivers Sunday, and the Boston Bruins now have to wait a full day to find out if anyone wants him.
Elliotte Friedman reported the move Sunday, the same day Jake Gaudet cleared waivers with the St. Louis Blues.
Gaudet's situation is resolved. Mutter's is not, and that clock does not stop ticking until Monday.
Mutter is 25, a 6-foot-3, 213 pound left wing out of London, Ontario, and he already changed organizations once this season.
He played 27 games with the Milwaukee Admirals before finishing the year with the Providence Bruins, Boston's AHL affiliate.
The numbers explain why he's the one on the wire right now. One point with Milwaukee in 27 games, a minus-10 rating, and 72 penalty minutes.
Providence got a smaller dose of the same package, 12 games, one point, 23 penalty minutes.
A cheap cap hit puts Bruins in no rush either way
Mutter carries a cap hit of $775,000 through this season and $850,000 next year as a restricted free agent, a number that barely moves a payroll.
That price tag is exactly why waiving him is a low-risk swing. If a claim comes, Boston loses almost nothing. If it doesn't, he's organizational depth again.

Any team with an open roster spot and a taste for size can put in a claim before Monday, and Boston has zero control over that outcome.
