The Kraken have been linked to Simon Edvinsson, and Shane Wright's name is already floating around the conversation.

David Pagnotta said Tuesday on Off The Roster that Seattle is “one of the teams I do wonder about” when it comes to the Detroit defenseman.

Then came the twist. “There's a Shane Wright element there as well,” Pagnotta said.

He framed it carefully, wondering whether “at least in main pieces, that maybe something like that could potentially work.”

That's a lot of maybes packed into one sentence. But the fit isn't hard to see.

Edvinsson is a 6-foot-6, left-shot defenseman Detroit took sixth overall.

Shane Wright has four points in 12 games, while Simon Edvinsson has 60 in 175

Wright has four points through 12 games.

The 22-year-old carries an $886,666 cap hit, which makes him an easy piece to slide into almost any deal.

Edvinsson has played 175 NHL games, putting up 60 points.

He also finished plus-12 in each of his last two seasons.

If Jason Botterill can land a big, young, left-shot defenseman for Wright and change, he should take it today.

Trading a forward still finding his game for a blueliner who has already proven he belongs is like swapping a lottery ticket for a paycheck.

Seattle's blue line could use the help. Ryan Lindgren is on injured reserve, expected out until at least Nov. 19.

Adam Larsson is 33, and Brandon Montour is 32.

Lane Lambert would get a defenseman he could lean on for the next decade, not just the next road trip.

Detroit sits at 5-4-3 after Monday's shootout win in Edmonton, the same night Zach Hyman left the game.

So why would Shawn Horcoff move a 23-year-old defenseman? That's the part of this nobody has answered yet.

Seattle has already beaten Detroit twice this season. The Kraken host Toronto on Wednesday, while the Red Wings return home Thursday against Chicago.

If this conversation keeps growing, Wright's next few games just turned into auditions.
