Novgorod Torpedo F Kirill Urakov's face was leaking badly after taking a skate to the chops on Friday. He was heel-kicked right in his beak by the skate of Dynamo F Ilya Kablukov in a harrowing accident.
Scary moment for Torpedo forward Kirill Urakov having his face cut by the skate blade. He immediately skated off the ice for medical attention.#GagarinCup pic.twitter.com/IVU2fmfXDC— KHL (@khl_eng) March 10, 2023
Urakov rushed off the ice as fast as he could, leaving his equipment scattered on the ice. Understandable, probably had greater concerns in the moment.
"Eveything is fine with Urakov. Doctors are working with him now, a little later it will be clear how serious the injury is. But I think everything is fine, now there are playoffs, where such injuries are not uncommon. Let's trust the doctors," General Director Alexander Kharlamov says.
Fortunately, Torpedo won the game in overtime by a score of 4-3 and lead the Gagarin Cup Conference Quarterfinals 3-2. They can clinch the series with a win on Sunday.
