The rosters were officially announced last week, so we finally know who exactly will be playing in the event, barring any possible injuries.
Since the tournament doesn't start until February it is quite likely that we will see a few substitutions made between now and then.
However, one of those possible subs will not be making the team under any circumstances according to a report from NHL insider and 32 Thoughts host Elliotte Friedman.
Apparently, this one player, who remains unnamed, reacted so poorly to the news that he didn't make the team that he is no longer in consideration to represent his country now, or in the future.
It is very likely that we will never know who this player is, but there are some very good players from each country that didn't make the cut.
Just take a look at the players who did not make team Canada for example.
Connor Bedard, Macklin Celebrini, Steven Stamkos, Evan Bouchard, Noah Dobson, and Logan Thompson are just a few of the highlights among those who missed the cut.
In fact, if team Canada consisted of this lineup exactly, they would still have a fairly good chance of winning the event!
In fact, team Canada is so deep that there are even players who didn't even make the honorable mentions team that could still be very good choices.
As it is, Canada might struggle against a younger American team, so perhaps Don Sweeney will regret leaving some of these guys off the team in a few months time.
The only way to find out will be to tune in yourself, so be sure to catch the games next February.
