This past week has been full of shocks and new reports in the NHL, with the New York Rangers seemingly at the centre of it all as they aimed to shake up their roster.
They did so by trading captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks, but perhaps the most interesting story out of New York has been their biggest trade target, which was revealed as Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk.
While most people brushed this off as simple speculation, as most know that the Senators aren't interested in dealing their captain, it has reportedly infuriated Sens Owner Michael Andlauer.
In a report from TSN's Pierre LeBrun, the veteran insider revealed a conversation with Andlauer where he categorically denied any interest in trading Tkachuk, noting that he's never talked to a team about trading him, and instead expressed frustration that they're yet again having to put out the fires of trade rumours.
He didn't stop there however, as Andlauer reportedly used the phrase 'soft tampering' on multiple occasions during the conversation with LeBrun, and while it's unclear if he's targeting the Rangers for doing something specific or simply calling out the situation around Tkachuk in previous years, it's something to keep an eye on.
During the conversation, Andlauer made it clear that Tkachuk isn't on the trade block, and despite speculation dating back at least a year, the team aren't intent on dealing him, revealing that Tkachuk will be their captain for years to come.
This doesn't feel like the end of a saga, however rather the start of one as accusations of tampering come out, and if there's more detail behind that, it's one that could shake up the NHL in a huge way.
